Southwest Montana is a haven for fishermen (and women!) of all kinds. With a vast number of Rocky Mountain rivers and creeks to choose from, not to mention ample numbers of clear mountain lakes, you can not only get your fill of fishing, but also soak up the fresh air and mountain vistas. Dillon is in the middle of GREAT fishing territory, with the Beaverhead, Big Hole, Madison, Jefferson and Ruby rivers all close by. In addition, Clark Canyon Reservoir is just south of town and provides not only spectacular summer fishing but exciting winter ice fishing!
Beaverhead County is home to a vast array of wildlife; including elk, bear, antelope, deer, moose, mountain lion, geese, ducks and many others. Some of the best hunting in the West is right here in our neck of the woods. Click here to see the hunting regulations and out of state application deadlines on hunting in Montana.
